At GreenWatches we handle your personal data with care. In this privacy statement you can read which data we process, why we do so, how long we keep it and what rights you have.

2. What data we process

We only process personal data that you provide to us yourself or that arises from the use of our website and services. Depending on your contact with us, this concerns:

First and last name
Address, postcode and place of residence
Phone number and email address
Details of the watch you are buying, selling or looking for (brand, reference, serial number, year, condition, papers)
Details of a valid ID document when we purchase a watch
Bank account number and payment details
Signature on a purchase declaration
The content of your messages via the contact form, email, WhatsApp or social media
Technical data such as IP address, browser, device and browsing behaviour on our website

3. What we use your data for

We only use your data for clear purposes and on a legal basis:

Contact and quotes – to answer your question, request or enquiry (performance of a contract or legitimate interest).
Sale of a watch – to process, invoice and deliver your purchase and to provide warranty (performance of a contract).
Purchase of your watch – to make an offer, record the purchase and check the provenance of the watch (performance of a contract and legal obligation).
Administration – to comply with tax and accounting obligations (legal obligation).
Improving the website – to analyse how visitors use the website (consent or legitimate interest).
Marketing – to show you relevant advertisements via Google and Meta (consent).

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have significant consequences for you.

4. Purchasing watches

When you sell a watch to GreenWatches, as a dealer in second-hand goods we are legally required to register the purchase (article 437 of the Dutch Criminal Code). For this we record your name, address, the details of your ID document and the details of the watch. Where the Dutch Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft) applies, we carry out the required customer due diligence.

These checks help us prevent trade in stolen or illegally obtained watches. We only provide this data to the police or other competent authorities when required by law.

5. Cookies and similar techniques

Our website uses cookies. A cookie is a small file that is stored on your device when you visit.

Functional cookies – necessary for the website to work properly and to secure forms (including Google reCAPTCHA). No consent is required for these.
Analytical cookies – via Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager we measure how visitors use our website, so that we can improve it.
Marketing cookies – via Google (Ads) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) we can measure the effect of advertisements and show you relevant advertisements.

We only place analytical cookies that are not set up in a privacy-friendly way, and marketing cookies, with your consent. You can always delete or block cookies via your browser settings.

6. Sharing with third parties

GreenWatches never sells your data. We only share your data with parties that are necessary for our services or when required by law:

Hosting provider of our website and email
Form service forms.app (sales and request forms and purchase declarations)
Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, reCAPTCHA, Ads and fonts)
Meta (WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram)
Our accountant and payment service providers
Carriers and insurers when shipping a watch
Police or other government authorities when we are legally required to do so

Where necessary, we conclude a data processing agreement with parties that process data on our behalf. Some of these parties, such as Google and Meta, may process data outside the European Economic Area. This only happens with appropriate safeguards, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

7. Contact via WhatsApp and social media

If you contact us via WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, we process your name, phone number or account name and the content of your messages to answer your question. The privacy policy of the respective provider also applies to the use of these services.

8. How long we keep data

We do not keep your data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless the law prescribes a longer period:

Contact requests and messages without follow-up: maximum 2 years
Invoices, purchase declarations and other records: 7 years (statutory tax retention period)
Purchase registration and customer due diligence data: as long as the law requires (under the Wwft, 5 years after the transaction)
Analytical data: maximum 14 months

9. Security

GreenWatches takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website uses a secure connection (SSL) and access to personal data is limited to people who need it for their work. If you have the impression that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of misuse, please contact us immediately.

10. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the following rights:

Right to erasure of your data, insofar as we are not legally required to keep it
Right to restriction of processing
Right to data portability
Right to object to processing
Right to withdraw consent at any time

You can send a request to info@greenwatches.nl. To prevent misuse, we may ask you to identify yourself. We will respond to your request within one month.

11. Complaints

Are you not satisfied with the way we handle your data? Let us know and we will look for a solution together. You also always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

12. Minors

Our website and services are not intended for persons under 18. We do not buy or sell watches from or to minors and do not knowingly process their data.

13. Changes

GreenWatches may amend this privacy statement, for example in the event of new services or changes in legislation. The most up-to-date version is always available on this page.
